Protecting the Public Interest

Throughout their professional careers, CPAs of Ontario are subject to ongoing regulation and oversight to protect the public interest.

Public Practice

CPAs providing accounting services to the public:

  • must do so through registered firms or professional corporations
  • are subject to mandatory periodic practice inspections
  • meet ongoing professional liability insurance requirements

How Does the Complaints Process Work?

CPA Ontario reviews every complaint received. We correspond with the complainant and member to gather more information for consideration by the Professional Conduct Committee. The matter may be further investigated and could result in a referral to the Discipline Committee.
