Starting with the examinations taking place in August & September 2020 (Semester 4), you will be required to achieve a minimum of 50% on your core course examination in addition to an overall mark of 60% in the course in order to pass. If you are seeking admittance into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP), you are still required to achieve a minimum overall average grade of 65% in the core courses. The pass requirement for non-core courses remains the same.

Preparatory courses allow aspiring accountants to gain some or all of the prerequisites required for entry to the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
Delivered on a part-time basis for maximum flexibility and accessibility, the preparatory courses are offered online or in a classroom setting and are currently offered in five semesters each year. You need to complete only the courses you require.
Effective November 2019, CPA students must register for CPA Preparatory courses and their corresponding examinations separately. In addition, students have up to 12 months from the course start date to write the associated examination.

2020 CPA PREPARATORY COURSE EXAMINATIONS
The November 2020 CPA preparatory course assessments will no longer take place in-person at exam writing centres but will be delivered remotely. Students will write their assessments at home using their own computers on the evaluation dates and times specified below. The assessments will be administered through D2L. To prepare to write your assessment, ensure that you have:
- Reliable Internet access
- Word processor (i.e. “.docx” format) and spreadsheet (i.e. ".xlsx” format) applications installed on your computer
- The hardware, operating, software, and other computer requirements specified in the Learning management system and computer requirements section of the CPA Canada Preparatory Courses Student Guide
Previously, the dates scheduled for the assessments were November 6-7, 2020; however, to minimize conflicts for students writing multiple assessments during this evaluation period, the assessments will be written over eight (8) business days. Each assessment will be two hours in length.
