Certified General Accountants have access to a specialized online Executive MBA program which gives advanced standing and transfer credit for your CGA designation. The MBA for CGAs program was developed to satisfy the demands of CGAs for a practical, flexible and portable program of graduate business education. It was also designed to acknowledge CGAs educational background and to give full credit for work experience and the CGA designation. .
The online MBA for CGAs is the result of an alliance between Athabasca University and Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA Canada). The alliance will foster the development of exciting new courses and program concentrations, which address the changing knowledge requirements of today's CGA. Concentrations in strategic management, leadership and information technology management will enable CGAs to advance their knowledge in areas relevant to their current professional requirements. The MBA for CGAs program features a specialized curriculum designed to augment your accounting and financial knowledge with an in-depth examination of the key tasks of management—managing strategy, information, people, resources, markets and operations.
The program is structured in two phases and allows students to choose how to complete the MBA program either with an applied project or electives.CGAs will normally complete the MBA program in 2.5 to 3 years. However, regulations state that the program must be completed within six years and a minimum of one course must be completed in any 12-month period to maintain active status in the program.
